Jabberjaw was sort of the CBGB's of Los Angeles during those years -- a tiny, un-airconditioned, all-ages venue with kitschy decor that was often home to some amazing performances. That night there must have been only 30 people there with most of us sitting down, which even in that small space felt comfortably intimate. And perhaps this intimacy -- along with Elliott's sister being in the audience -- might have contributed to Elliott's enjoyment of the show that night, despite the rough start. Sadly in the years between my recording of this show on cassette tape and the transfer of that to digital there was some degradation of the tape. I tried to remove as much noise as I could.
